The SP5000 Large-Format Scan-to-Print Controller
Vivid Image Technology's SP5000 Large-Format Scan-to-Print Controller
connects directly to your wide format color scanner to quickly and
easily make color copies on a wide variety of large format color printers...
without a computer!
Who are the customers?
The SP5000 is designed for the reprographics bureau, sign shop, cartographer,
or corporate environment where color oversize prints of any kind need
to be copied, enlarged, or reduced. With the SP5000, these customers
can produce fast, colorful reproductions of the following big prints:
- Maps
- Architectural renderings
- Signs
- Art prints
- Technical diagrams
- Posters
- Banners
- Photographs
What makes the SP5000 unique?
There is no other way to make high-quality wide format color copying
this fast and easy. Compare the SP5000 to these competitive offerings:
- Fully integrated wide format color copier - Fully integrated,
wide format color copiers still cost over $75,000. The SP5000-based
system costs as little as $30,000 (based on US list prices). The
integrated large format color copiers don't support documents
larger than 24"x36". They also don't offer the choice in printers,
inks, and media offered by the SP5000.
- Software/hardware "system" solutions - Software solutions
for the large format scanners are expensive, require the purchase
and dedication of a PC to the copying process, and are generally
slower than the SP5000. When you press the "copy" button on the
touchscreen front panel of the SP5000, the unit immediately starts
the scanning process, and your printer starts working only seconds
later.
Why will these customers use a wide format copying system?
There are many reasons why customers may need an easy way to make
copies of large format color documents. Here a a few:
- Sometimes the original digital file is not available, especially
with older maps and digital or photographic images.
- If you regularly work with large format files, you know that
finding and uploading an original file can be more cumbersome
than just making a quick copy.
- If the drawing is an original watercolor or hand-drawn rendering,
the SP5000 is the only practical way to make color copies.
- If a printout from a file has been marked up and a copy of the
oversize, marked-up print is needed, the SP5000 system is once
again the answer.
The SP5000 pulls your image from the scanner through a fast SCSI interface,
and with the help of its built-in RISC processor and 3.2GB hard drive,
prints the image "on the fly". The SP5000 supports printers from HP,
Encad, CalComp, Mutoh, Graphtec, and Selex.
Through the wide variety of printers supported, your output can feature:
- Up to 720 dpi printing resolution
- Media up to 72 inches wide and 20 feet long
- Dye-based and outdoor pigment-based inks
- Bond paper, canvas, vinyl, back-lit polyster, and other media
The SP5000 Large Format Scan-to-Print Controller supports the world's
most popular 36" wide color scanners from Contex, IDEAL, Colortrac,
Vemco, CalComp, and Oce. Direct control of the scanner through the
SCSI interface eliminates the need for a computer.
The Scan-to-Print "copying" process is set up and managed through
the SP5000's simple touchscreen front panel. Select the scanner, printer,
ink, media, scanning area, and enlargement or reduction ratio. Even
advanced features such as color adjustments are easily accessed from
the dialog boxes on the touchscreen.
The SP5000 can push the scanner and the printer to their maximum possible
throughput. Scan and print speeds depend upon the scanning resolution
and the printer's capability. |
